HD or airbrush: which one for your wedding
The real difference between HD and airbrush make-up, what each costs, and which suits your skin and your day.

These are two ways of putting on a base, not two levels of quality. Either can look wrong in the hands of somebody who does not know your skin, and either can look beautiful.
HD
Applied by hand with a brush or sponge, using products formulated for high-definition cameras. It is buildable, so a good artist can put more coverage exactly where you want it and leave the rest alone. It is the ordinary answer for most weddings, and it photographs well.
Airbrush
Sprayed in a fine mist. It sits lighter on the skin, tends to last longer through heat and crying, and gives a very even finish. It costs more (usually 30-40% on the same artist’s price) and it is less easy to adjust once it is on, which is why the trial matters more if you are choosing it.
How to decide
- Twelve hours or more, an outdoor ceremony, or June in Mumbai: airbrush earns its money.
- Textured skin, active breakouts or anything you want covered heavily in one place: HD is easier to build.
- Sensitive or reactive skin: ask the artist directly rather than choosing on the method. What is in the product matters far more than how it is applied.
- Not sure: book the trial and ask the artist. It is the question they answer most often.
